Burlap is one of the hottest wedding trends these days with its natural texture and organic appeal.  This dense woven fabric is extremely versatile, super eco-friendly, and perfect for modern rustic weddings. At less than $2-$3 a yard and with so many DIY options, this budget friendly trend is  good practical wedding planning in my book! The best thing? Its neutral, natural color is a complement to any wedding theme.

Here are seven simple burlap wedding ideas to add a touch of rustic charm and texture to your big day.

1. Burlap Curtains - Hang burlap curtains to create an intimate setting for your outdoor wedding.

2. Burlap Wrapped Bouquet - An easy way to secure your bouquet and add a neutral texture to your lush blooms.

3. Burlaps Accented Stationary and Invitations - Even small touches can make a big impact.

4. Burlap Flower Cone - I love this gorgeous burlap cone, especially with the lavender. This is a great multipurpose project; it holds flower petals, progams, or ribbon wands, fill with lush flowers and hang on ceremony chairs, or even fill with candy as a sweet treat for guests.

5. Burlap Favor Bags - Fill with seeds or even a tree seedlng and attach a sweet personalized note for guests, who will be sure to remember your wedding for years to come.

6. Burlap Covered Candle Table Numbers - Another easy DIY Wedding idea: glass votive holders, burlap strips, black paint and number stencils. Wrap around the candle holder, glue in the back and add a ribbon to match your wedding colors.

7. Burlap Banner - This is such an easy DIY project for even a not so crafty bride! Stencils, paints, burlap and twine....the banners adds a super sweet, rustic touch to any wedding.
Rustic-looking wares are still very much in style these days, and today I’ll be showing you an easy way to make rustic plant boxes without ever busting out wood stains – this DIY is easy, fun and most-importantly, odor-free! You can definitely make a couple or more of these DIY table numbers right in the comfort of your own craft room/area. So jump in and see how I made them!

DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-14DIY TABLE NUMBERS SUPPLIES:

Step 1. Mix water, burnt umber and black paint in a 4:2:1 ratio. Add more burnt umber or black depending on the color of wood you are going for. I wanted a darker walnut look so I added more black to mine.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-13Step 2. Liberally apply your “stain” on your wooden box with a foam brush. Use one or two coats at first, let it dry, and add more if desired. I ended up with just two coats on mine. To prevent the wood from roughing up too much, decrease your paint strokes as much as you can. Let the whole thing dry – about 30 minutes.

DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-11Step 3. Using sandpaper or a palm sander, lightly scuff the edges and corners of your box.  You can even take a box cutter or X-acto knife to help with the scuffing process – the end goal is to have something that looks a bit aged.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-9Step 4. Measure one side of your box and make a template smaller than the measurements – I subtracted 0.4″ all around.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-10Step 5. Using your template, cut your burlap fabric to size.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-8Step 6. Adhere your burlap onto one side of the wooden box. You can cut more for another side, or all the sides of the box, depending on how you’re planning on using it. For mine, I only used one side of the boxes for the DIY table numbers.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-7Step 7. Cut a number stencil on contact paper, or even just on plain regular copy paper. I used the font‘Bodoni Black’ for my numbers. You can also buy pre-made stencils to use.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-6Step 8. Using a spouncer, fill in your stencil with black paint. What I love about burlap is you don’t have to sweat the imperfections!
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-5Step 9. Once the paint is dry, peel off the stencil to reveal your gorgeous number. If there are any burlap ‘hairs’ sticking out, trim them with a pair of craft scissors. And now your planter box DIY table numbers are finished!
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-4Step 10. Time to fill it with plants. If you are using faux plants – here’s a trick: Fill your box about halfway with crumpled paper, add a foam block on top and fill the sides with more crumpled paper.
DIY-table-numbers-planter-boxes-Darice-3Step 11. Fill the top with decorative moss, and then stick your faux plants in. I chose to display some succulents on mine – fabulous, aren’t they?
